Too much sadness...
I know this is way off topic but I have come to regard many of you as friends and just needed to share this somewhere...
My mother has been battling metastatic breast cancer for several years. It's been a hard, hard battle, and these past weeks she has taken a major turn for the worse. She went in for a chemo treatment on wednesday, and the doctor said she was too weak for chemo. He admitted her to the hospital where they could hopefully get her strength up enough for another round of chemo. She has declined each day drastically and now the decision has been made, in accordance with her wishes, to end all treatment except hospice/pain meds. At this rate of decline she can't hang on more than a few days. The good news is that yesterday she got hugs and "I love yous" from all of her children and grandchildren, and was able to recognize and respond to every one. Today she was less aware and not very able to respond to anything. To add to this, I was preparing to leave for the hospital to visit her this morning when i got the call that my dear grandmother had passed this morning. She too has been very sick for some time so this is not unexpected, but still painful to experience. Thankfully I spent some time with her just yesterday and got to see her smile that brilliant smile of hers at me one last time.

Very sorry to hear all of that. Some comfort that can be had though, is the closure of saying goodbye which many people don't get the chance to do. Prayers for you and your family during this time.

Sorry to hear all of the bad news. Devastating to say the least. Hang in their, bro, and just try and comfort your mom the best ways you can and try to grant her wishes and hopefully you will be able to carry on with some peace of mind.. I've been through the whole similar thing with my dad when I was younger and have an understanding of where your coming from. Thats alot to deal with, Headhunter. Tough as nails of you to talk it out. Jason

All of us either have been there or will be there. I was holding my grandmother's hand when she passed. You just love them as much as you can, as long as you can, and when the time comes to let them go, don't be afraid to weep. But weep for yourself and your family, not for them, for their pain has ceased. You'll be in my prayers.

It is too much sadness. I'm sorry you're having to experience this, and probably much sooner than expected.
So very sorry. Hope you'll be ok. I'll pray for peace and strength for you. |

My prayers go out to you and your family. As Lewis said, show her your love and comfort her as much as possible.
