I thought this was neat...
Hey guys, I'm sorry I've not posted much lately... My computer is acting so so, and I've just not been on it much. I did see something neat the other day... I was going to see Lewis (Indy) and happened to glance at a small Native American camp site I know of just off the highway. About a 1/4 mile or less from it, standing off the side of the service road and in front of a small house, was an old Native American (at least in his 70s) and a young boy (about 10). Each with a traditional bow in hand... I believe I met the man several years ago, if so I believe he said he's Caddo... As we passed I could see the old man taking time to teach the young lad the art of the bow. I just wonder how many generations this seen has taken place, just in this one man's family... I came very close to pulling over and asking if I could watch. Part of it was the facination of watching the culture being passed down... Part of it was just the warmth of the scene... I don't know, I thought it was cool, Raymond

keeping the knowledge alive is very important to every family, all my family photos passed down from generation to generation are identified for the next generation along with alittle information about that person, so much of the little things are lost to us now we can only wonder at what that little tool that might be an effigy or a practice piece or something else was really used for, Pass The Knowledge. my kids laugh at my attempts to pass the knowledge, probably because of the very sophisticated way i run it by them lol. what ever works though is the way to do it

Man Raymond you should of asked if you could video that and do a documentary on it or something do you know how rare that is. I live probably three miles from a Medicine man that has seen many seasons ((Thats what he told me when I asked how old he was))and he still practices .I'll go over and see him when I go back home and ask him if that is a very wide spread tradition.

Thanks for the replies guys. Brian, if I had a video camera on me I would've stopped and asked. I will keep a look out for him from now on... I think the next time I see him, I'll see if I can stop by for a visit. Raymond
