Making an instant arrowhead!!

While attempting to work down a nice quality peice of raw Burlington a couple days ago,, I got about 40% of the biface thinned out and while attempting a much needed thinning flake from the base,,, I ran an impressive flute.......and it failed broken in manufacture,, but, from it came my "instant arrowhead"

The very following day,, while creekin',, I came across this "falsie",, and it's broke in similar fashion

Cool.

I have several bases like that from my fluted point site, but I think I only have two tips like that... I guess they reworked or used the tips.

Nice mistake. Thin that baby down with some pressure flking and it's ready to be hafted. I've found some pieces like that in the field, they looked like finished points all the way until I picked them up. Found a few pieces like the lower half as well.

Lol, wonder if I can make it pop off some paleo's,, that'd be sweet!

Think I'll plant it in my backyard and see if Efrem can find it...
It's funny, cuz sometimes he will grab a ten pound rock yellin'...
"look at this arrowhead, Daddy!!!" Lol

That's a step farther than I usually make it. I'm really good at making scrapers though.

Hey N, that is cool! Just a neat outcome man! That could explain alot of worked stuff we find, that looks weird, failed attempt then make a point or tool with it! Very cool! I think my sites had dudes that had alot of failed attempts!! lol also, alot of these fine uniface bonham and perdiz bird points could have been exactly what happened to you then salvaged!!?? Thanks for the ideas out of you screw up!! lol

Lol, Thanks, man... Check out the first pic posted by Mootsman in his thread called Strange tools. This one is a somewhat similar type of a break that was salvaged...this tool example was probably made from an overshot flake as he mentions..

Strange Tools...
