Here starts the web...
When we go to a doctor, we want to get better. Most often we are readily perscribed antibiotics to cure what ails us... It was in the early 90's when the word "Superbug" started hitting headlines. That is when science started to learn (or publicly share) that bacterial strains can and do evolve beyond what customary antibiotics can remedy. Whatever bacteria that can survive and multiply essentially renders the antibiotic less viable in a nutshell. Hence the name superbug... antibiotic resilience. Since then, a majority of "responsible" doctors tried to only perscribe antibiotics NOT AS A CURE ALL, but only as NECESSITY. The conflict of interest and point to follow is this... Pharmaceutical (sp?) companies drive medical science as well as political push and pull. As a foodie and professional Sous Chef, I have seen quite a few "Wine and Dines" where 10-20 local "client" prospects have a fun night of one pound lobster tails and quite a drink tab... The server will walk away with around a $300+ tip... So the above is just an introduction to the premise of Pharmaceutical "business". Now read this: http://www.phagetherapycenter.com/pi...apy&language=0 Now ask yourself whether you prefer antibiotic or bacteriophage study in the current world YOU live in...
