ATTN; CDEAN
Sorry to get off topic; I recognize the Rock Art in your Avatar as a site I visited back in the 1980's here in Southern Kentucky. An incrediable spot between huge rocks with additional bird figures nearby and a mysterious Hourglass/circular device above (I have some excellent 35MM images somewhere), the art there has always astonished me. As I have not been there since 1990, Do you know if the site is still intact and undamaged? From the first time I saw it I feared for its saftey from vandels and idiots. Also has any one put forth any theories on the meanings of the art at this site and a possiable timeperiod. Its a Site that should be Protected somehow, one of Kentuckys treasures. Back on topic; I frequently have the most vivid dreams of finding artifact after artifact in fields, never a cache though, the sense of disappointment upon waking is great! Thanks, Tim |

Yeah, I've read about the place. It's in Edmonson county, called the Asphalt Rock Site. I've never been to it, and I've never been able to find much info on it aside from a few pictures. Nothing about the culture that made it or when it was made. I hope it's still undamaged, and I would love to see it in person someday.
It seems like an amazing place, and the humanoid figure in my avatar has always fascinated me since the first time I read about it. What could it be? Sasquatch?

CDEAN,
Thanks for your input. I have always thought the main full standing figure is a Shaman in an animal outfit. Clueless on the rest! I have found some of my negatives from the site and will have some prints made and start a new thread for others interpatation. Respectfully, Tim Last edited by Ambro; 12-09-2011 at 08:11 AM. |
