Thanks to my Grandfathers:
Thank you to my Papa (Monti Gathright U.S. Army) and Daddy Jack (Raymond Self U.S. Army Air Corp) for their sacrifice during WWII. Papa spent 4 years in the Soloman Islands, was his squads only survivor of a Jap. booby trap, would've been at the In vation of Japan, and suffered from malaria. Daddy Jack was fortunate enough to serve in Harlingon, TX. for the duration. Sadly, he didn't recognize his contributions until his great grandson invited him to a Vet. Day program at school... He cried... I still have his service jacket... Thank's to all who served and continue to do so. Raymond

In the shadow of Giants
My dad served with the(Texas) 36th div. in Europe. Anzio, Salerno, Rapido River, Mount Casino. The stories and stuff that man survived... I don't hold a candle to him and his generation. I might have been taller and heavier than him but he was always a giant in my eyes. We don't grow 'em like that anymore. Thank you and God Bless all those that served in WWII. They really did save the world.

My grandfather was a MP in Germany during WW2. He got stabbed on two different occasions. Got jumped and robbed. He was a hell of man. And you are right, they don't make them like they used to. Tough as nails.

God bless em all. One gpa is a farmer and got out of ww2, the other a marine who went through 3 beach landings (guadal, saipan, tarawa). If it wasn't for the farmer no arrowheads, but if it wasnt for the marine no freedom. That whole era was made of men tough as nails! I'm just happy to have em both still. Both r in they're 90s. This is off the subject but since this is arrowheadology, the marine retired out at lake city ammunition plant. He used to finds arrowheads they're when they would open up new firing ranges. And farmer gpa has found many but his best is a head of a serphant for a pipe.

I think of what a miracle it is that I'm even here. With direct paternal lineage fighting the French and Indians in 1755, Revolutionary War, War of 1812 and my mothers father fighting in Europe and the Pacific in WW2.......... It was highly improbable that I'd even exist.
Most all of us have a long history of brave men who put us in the position we are in. I don't think there is thanks enough.
