Scouts Stories And Badges

Rode 50 miles in one day on a bike on MO. Backroads up and down monster hills. Made a sled out of limbs and raced it against other troops and went to some great camps. These are my 3 favorite badges and see this stuff in the closet quite often and the bag is filled with lots of good memories. Not the best story teller so thats about it. Sure some others here were in scouts or have children that are/were.

I made it to Star Scout. Swam a mile, LOL. Boy Scouts for a then City Boy was a life changing experience that has stayed with me all my years. I don't have a single thing left except the memories and skills.

Well, one story I guess. While practicing for the cc bike ride wed go down back roads and while riding one day I seen what I thought was a dead turkey on the side of the road. Later that night when my parents picked me up I talked my dad into stopping where I told him there was a dead turkey because I wanted the tail feathers. He pulled over when we got there and got out grabbed the bird and threw it in his trunk. So we get home and he pulls out a Turkey Vulture so no tail feathers. Scout related story I guess.

Thats pretty cool man! What did you have to accomplish to get that native american heritage patch?

I wanna see you ride 50 miles up and down those Jefferson County hills today

JK, thats great acheivmant!! I never was in the scouts but I somehow managed to self motivate myself and push for certain goals as a youngster.
I think it had something to do with the movies that influenced me.

ROCKY (EYE OF THE TIGER)
KARATE KID (WAX ON/WAX OFF)
The GOONIES
STAND BY ME
FIRST BLOOD

More stories, please!
