What do you all do for work?

Just curious what line of work you are all in. I'm a boiler engineer for the federal prison system.

Well. for the past 30 years I have been in Retail Sales.. starting out as a sales clerk but working my way up into Management. I have enjoyed it because working with the Public is rewarding and I do enjoy helping Folks get what they need.
I was laid off a few weeks ago for a really Lame reason from my Last Job (they claimed I talked too much to Customers (?!?!?!????!!) Gee, How else am i to help Folks???). I've been applying to dozens of Jobs, but nothing yet. I am going to start Cleaning Swimming Pools, as a Neighbor is a Cleaner and has extra work and He'll train me...
I'd love to get back into Retail Sales, but it's tough right now.. so the Pool Cleaning Business looks good to me...

I used to be an art director for a website design company and taught as an adjunct at a local university. Turns out it got REALLY BORING after 6 years. I persued my other passion... cooking. Did restaurant management for about 4 years, spent a few years working as a prep/line cook at a fine dining restaurant (my Chef competed on an episode of Food Networks "Chopped"... he made it to the final match, but then got "chopped".) Moved back home to a stale economy and got a call a week later to go back as a Sous Chef but declined. Family comes first... So for now, a sauté line cook.

Heh, these threads always are fun.

I am an advertising operations manager for an online marketing firm. Whats all that gobbledygook mean?

Basically when you go to a website and you see an ad, I help put it there. We run a technology that rotates those ads. Its a lot of math and a lot of technology that I have to handle and a lot of money that folks spend to make sure things are right. I guess I can say I am a glorified tech support sales guy because if you try and boil it down thats kinda a easy way to put it.

I enjoy my job for the most part because I pretty much can do what I want when I want for the most part. I would rather be self-employed and will be one day but for now it pays the bills.

Shun is a great knife company! My blade of choice is the Japanes Gyutou (translates to cow sword). Misono is an AWESOME company. Here's my baby...

Feel free to PM me any foodie questions! Actually, going to PM you a link to the Culinary Bible...

I'm also in the restaurant industry. I negotiate leases for real estate, open and sell restaurants in Asia/Pacific and Northern Europe.
