Turkey hunting
Here's some photos I took a couple years back on our farm of some nice Toms strutting.
I enjoy Turkey hunting, our season will be starting in April. Any other Turkey hunters out there? Joyce

I eat, sleep, and breathe turkey hunting. I don't think I've ever had two hunts go the same way.
Turkeys would have sore throats here if they were gobbling. They'll fire up here in about 2-3 weeks. |

I haven't heard any Gobbles around here yet but am looking forward to when I do. Up here we have to hunt by season, we have 5 seasons which are a week long. This year I got 1st season and 3rd season. Can't wait to get out there again! Thanks Tracy, and Good luck to you also! Joyce

That is what I have learned since I started hunting Turkeys 11 years ago, every hunt has been different. They will starting Gobbling around here about the same time, 2 or 3 weeks. Can't wait to hear them, I go out about an hour before sunrise and wait for the gobbling to start. So exciting when you have one coming to your call gobbling all the way, but just as much when ones comes in and doesn't gobble until he is only 30- 40 yards away and you never knew he was there! Good luck when you get out there! Joyce

I have decided to turkey hunt this year for the first time. I was out arrowhead hunting and seen a flock of at least 50-60 about a month ago, definetly sparked my interest. There was a white one with them. Have any of you ever seen a white one? If so is it common or was it possibly a previously domesticated breed that turned wild?

Turkey hunting is a challenge thats what I like about it, the Turkeys around here are very wild, that makes it even better. I have never seen a wild white turkey but I am sure its possible to have an albino just like in deer or any other animal. Not saying it is albino, it could just be a domesticated one that someone let go. Good luck on your first hunt! Joyce

Cool pics Joyce...I tried turkey hunting last year on public ground and got skunked! Called in a big Tom opening morning and eveytime he gobbled back it really gets you excited..he got within 30yards and busted me flipping my safety off! Good luck this year!

Thanks jdneill, I am getting ready to start hunting next Monday. It is a rush when one gets close, you can't move when they are looking in your direction, have to wait until they go behind a tree or something, their eyesight is very good! This year I will be wearing glasses that have a camera built into them, so I can record the hunt, hope it will be an exciting one. Are you going to hunt this year?
Joyce

I might give it a try..the farms I deer hunt on don't have turkey so I'm kinda stuck to hunting on public land down south. Lots of birds but also lots of hunters that educate them before season opens.
