Midweek Shark!

Zach & I slipped away to the local pier yesterday and I caught this six footer.
Caught, roped, landed, photographed and released him.
Thanks!
David

Very Good!!! We are still targeting the Leopard Sharks in the local Surf.. mostly 3 to 5 feet, but occasionally a giant 6 footer cruises thru the waves and eats our Crab flies...
We let 'em all go.. it's always fun to see the expression on the "beachcombers" faces when you pull a shark right out of the waves...

cgode,
This is a Spinner Shark, lots of locals mistake them for Blacktips, as they are almost identical. The Blacktips don't get as big as Spinners, a five foot blacktip would be a giant. Both will get up on top for you, the spinner is named for the tendancy to spin up on your leader. We also catch Bull sharks, Sandbars and Greater Hammerheads from the beach front, but Tiger Sharks are our biggest "land based" target.

Cannon,
I've eaten a few, they are pretty good, fried or grilled. No bones, just nice big shark steaks. You have to bleed them out and ice them down right away, then you can season them to taste anyway you like.

Sounds like fun on the Leopard sharks from the beach. The swimmers can't help but notice when you pull a six foot toothy critter out from under them and then let it go.
