Went camping at silver mounds- hixton!
Just went camping with my friend and nephew at Silver Mounds. Whole mountain of Hixton it seems like. You can't pick anything up there but it is still a super nice campground, nice views, friendly people, clean, and well worth the stay. For a collector it might be a bit of torture as there are colorful hixton flakes literally everywhere but if you just take time to look around and see how the entire place hasn't been disturbed and how well preserved it all is it's then easy to view it as a national treasure, and one worth protecting. We were good boys and didn't touch anything but we took a lot of pictures and I thought I would share. We did, between fits of cooking and drinking, manage to knock on the door at one or two farms to see if we could get permission to walk the corn fields surrounding the mound but we didn't have any luck finding anybody home so we wound up coming home empty handed. Didn't matter, had a GREAT time. Hope you enjoy the pics.
