Kayaking,, My new addiction!!

Well, PLS warned me that once I tried kayaking as a means/advantage to finding elusive arrowheads,, that I would want my own kayak!

He was 100% right!! Why I waited till I was 37 years old to try kayaking, I will never know. Honestly,, I think it was the yuppie image of it that has turned me away from it. After a week or so of searching the net, reveiwing/comparing kayaks, I finally made a choice that fits my needs/expenses!! Actually it's the same exact kayak that PLS owns. It's only sold at Bass Pro Shops. The Ascend fs10 "fishing" kayak. Very stable and tracks fair enough for my needs. A very large cockpit makes getting in/out an ease. Plenty of extra room in the cockpit to fit my 5 yr old son, Efrem! Also has lots of storage space for necessary gear. Has several places to hold fishing poles, etc..

Anyways, The past couple of weeks have consumed me. Been hittin' gravel bars, even doin a lil fishin'...... So far, I've yet to find a head nor catch a fish,,, but it sure is fun and have been relaxing quite a bit lately drifting along the local rivers, enjoying the great colors of autumn!!

Hope y'all enjoy the pics........Thanks, PLS,, for motivating me to get into the recreation aspect of kayaking!!!

Here's a recent fortune cookie I got,,,guess it was meant to be

What a great dad you are Jason. That's what it's all about bro, right there what you're doing.
sweet little 'yak you've got too. It just kills me that I had to sell mine some years back.

Don't forget you got a yak when it can be tough to find a point. They are so much fun to float in it is hard get out and look for points sometimes.

I love fishing out of bass boats but the yak gets me in places you can't fish from a big boat. This is my second 6+ lb'er in the last three weeks from the yak. Caught it this evening on topwater. Might try duck hunting from it in December and can't wait till spring fishing.

Nice pics, nice ride. Those fishing yaks with extra room and storage are hooked up, one of these days I'm going to upgrade. I've only been paddling a kayak for a couple years, I'm 37 myself. Like you I asked myself why I waited so long to finally get one. They really open up alot of possibilities for hunting, fishing, exploring, etc. I catch way more fish in my stealthy yak compared to my bass boat, all those props and trolling motors spook the fish and you can access any body of water from just about anywhere, you've gotta love em.
