more then likely desease , and mountain lions, maybe drought , in my younger days i could climb like a mountain goat and even if they were sick, dying, and asleep you couldnt get within 50 yards of them, and those were the tame ones lol, even on the golf course its hard to approach them with out them noticing you and moving off, i give alot of credit to those who hunt this animal with a bow

Good guess, disease and drought are a good bet. If you ever saw the amount of petroglyphs depicting life in some areas, it makes you wonder where everybody/thing went.

I think you guys are right about what happened to these guys. I have heard that in Washington there used to be a lot of Elk and Big Horn in most of eastern side of the state. We are a dry high desert and cold area and today all of the Elk and Big Horn have been transplanted from arother areas in the country. Drilled Elk teeth are found in most of the camp sites so we know they also hunted them. Reason given they say for this is a change in the climate to a much dryer and colder.

Out Geocaching
Came across a nice group of Big Horn today while we were out in the mountains hunting down a few geocaches. Got the big male at the end of the group.
