Plenty of Socal bucks have mulie blood in them from deer introduced from Nevada in the 1930s. The bucks at our San Benito ranch aren't eligible for Boone and Crockett. Here's one from year before last.

he is a nice one , yep Boone and Crockett don't recognize our deer, i think it takes a 195points minimum to get in any way , and i haven't seen any of those around here , well i swear Ive seen them alive , but none dead, Pope and Young will recognize our hybrids though, and i believe they have to be 145min to get into that record book, and you have the calif state record book that recognizes our deer, don't quote me on any of that though high sierra its been years since i have even looked at any Boone and Crockett, i did hear there was a sub-species in river side county that was supposed to be named as its own species, we also have the desert burrow deer , smallish with big ears that we see sometimes, thanks for the look
