desert sheep

these are pics of a rare and endangered california big horned sheep (sub-species) that despite mans efforts, continues to decline every year , at the rate they are disappearing they will be extinct within ten years, a boom in mountain lion births due to a food explosion that was a side effect of devastating fires five years ago has decimated the population, they also suffer from inbreeding and several viral diseases that despite vaccinations still continues to kill them.we used to go to the anzo berrego desert and with a little effort you could find at least one or two , once the golf course went in it was easy , now you dont see them at all , i dont have any idea what they have to do to save this sub-species, i imagine they will eventually capture the last survivors and try a captive breeding program , like with the california condors
