Snow finally finds Maine

We usually dont have much problem with snow fall, but this year warm wet storms resulted in lots of cold nights afterwords with no snow on the ground. The ice is about 17in deep and pushes up wild ridges everywhere. Temp in the morning was around 0 but with the sun came the wind and it just went down from there. Since I took these pictures we have had a good 16in of cold snow.
Pictures are from Chamberlain lake, up north at the headwaters of the Allagash

Snowshoe,, It was nothing for the cutters to spend three or four days walking snowy trails from Old Town to Chamberlain lake area staying nights in shanties set up along the way to stay in. They dragged the shanties, on skies, out and put them on the trails when they started working. As you can imaging a weekend might fill them up as the guys tried to quick walk back to town for a night of whisky and then get back for work monday. Takes me about 4 hours to drive there from central maine as the roads are dirt and owned by the logging companies. Called the Golden road, and the log trucks rule.
ps we have snow sleds going back about 100 yrs now too. People up here are crazy collectors of the old ones. Its nothing to be zipping along on a nice groomed trail doing about 60mph and run up on a family out with their 1950 snowcat they just about have to push. There is room for all, I guess.

Question Floori ng What?

My apologies, just pointed out a SPAM post that's clearly been removed.

Nice pics, glad to say I haven't seen much snow here in Ohio yet this year.

No snow down here in SE New Hampshire. I have not been able to use my snowshoes at all this season which is a shame, its a fun winter sport.
