Food in the field...

Whenever I'm out in the field be it arrowhead hunting, fishing, digging root, I always get hungry and thirsty and need to fuel my body to keep going, I just can't go without eating all day like I used to. I've been going out in the fields and woods all my life and I'm pretty tired of the beanie weenie vienny weenie thingy. trail mix? been there done that, my teeth can't handle it anyway. Went through the beef jerky phase, and the old timer nothin but cheese sanwiches phase, peanut better and jelly is good most of the time though. So what do you folks take in the field.

well im diabetic so i have to carry something with me if i know im going to be out for long periods of time in the field. i usually carry some of the different granola bars,or even some of the power bars from the health food section(not because they are healthy..just convenient..lol). i also carry sunflower seeds while hunting...they are a great source of extra energy.

I always carry Tiger Milk Bars with me, Love the taste and they certainly fill my Belly (I always try to eat a Big Breakfast that morning so I'm filled). I also carry Oranges from the Tree in my Backyard, but also carry Bananas and apples that i buy. I also carry Homemade Jerky with me as well........

PBJs are great, but can get smushed. Bags of peanuts, granola bars, apples, bananas, boiled eggs, cheese sticks, dried fruit, small cans of V-8, etc. Even been known to throw in a can of sardines, kippered snacks or smoked oysters. All great for extra energy and stow nicely in the backpack. Bottled water is a neccesity on a long hike.
