Go for a walk.....

Just thought I would post some scenic pictures it's been a nice spring here. first few photos are are of ramps. The photo of the dug ramps was the last I dug this year for my own use half for replanting on my place other half to eat and share with a friend. I don't need many for myself I will only use them once and thats just for the heck of it , I hate the stuff , but I will eat some every year just because I feel I'm supposed to, mix in fried potatoes or scrambled eggs , I'll powder a bit too for an onion powder type herb to add to whatever I usually don't use it though and end up throwing it away. I thought about selling it that way at market though would probably go over good with the organic gurus and the sandle/dockers consumers/mojave folks. Also great for digestive system mojave. Beside the ramps is a bag of blue cohosh that will sell at 1.25 lb dry, not a money maker but I found an ocean of it within the ocean of ramps you see in photos. These pictures cannot really show how many ramps are in this place and I have 2 other places just like it. One of the photos titled "slave labor in the new millinium" Is of my boy fighting an uphill battle . But ramp season is all over except the crying which is because you were stupid enough to put them in your refrigerator and now you have to eat them.............................................. ...................

Someones marijuana bucket (not mine) probably drdaves i dunno, next picture is a view from about mile or so in (just where I want to be) if you look way off in the distance you can see a spec of dirt which is one of my clearcuts which is the next picture. That landing area has been spitting out chips like crazy this spring but not even a broke.

Duh, that's what Evel Knievel used to jump over cars, buses, fountains... etc.. Where have you been?

They are a kind of plant but I dont' actually know much about them myself. I think you eat the root, like an onion.

So Evil Knievel ate them before he jumped or after..I'm thinking they must have anti-inflamitory properties like Onions and that's why Evil used them...To heal all those injuries faster?
Papa you got us all fowled up here.

..Are their Arrowheads under those plants?

Well that spot is right by "The Raccoon" ,and right in the middle of some sweet spots, actually my new site I'm in is not far from that area in the middle of the woods. So I would say that there is a great possibility of flint under those plants. There is flint in some spots along deer trails. the adena really liked this area. As for what ramps are..they are a wild leek more like garlic than an onion very smelly. I can get anywhere from 2.75 to 4.oo a lb for them I can get a pound with just a few shovel fulls, cleaning for sale is the hardest part and hauling them out. They then get sold to chefs in the cities, like chicago which is actually an indian(forget what tribe)name for a skunk shikago or?was named that because those indians called it skunk place or something like that.I start with ramps in the spring, then generally dig black cohosh and wild yams and well about 15 other roots and herbs during the early summer and then go to goldenseal when the leaf is full and end with seng in sept and walnuts in october. That usually puts me up pretty good for the winter allowing me to do whatever comes my way a lot of fellas trap and do fur during this time but I'm not too into trapping I got worn out on it years ago. Nasty and a hastle too, hard to make any real money anymore at it , but if the markets pick up I might dabble in it some in the future. As far as evil knievil I would really like to get my hands on one of those toys I had in the 70s where you sit evil and his bike in a slot then you turn the crank a bunch of times then realease him of course towards a "ramp" or a wild leek. Man that was a good toy because he would get some speed and actually ramp something pretty good.
