Go for a walk again....

Big results from my walk today. Bad pictures. If you have a sore throat, or want to boost your immune system this is good for that. These groups of goldenseal are good examples of heavy mature patches, I'll be waiting until they get seed berries before I dig them half I'll scatter, and half I'll plant here at home. Also I'll divide some roots and leave the outside plants so the patches will eventually fill back in. Notice the paw paw trees in the last photo. Hard to harvest any though as they are adapted to the shade but the fruits need some sun to develop. Plus opposums and raccoons eat them. I see tons of paw paw trees but always harvest a scant amount. A fella around here buys them in the fall, he has (probably) the only paw paw tree farm in the world, he also has a paw paw festival and sells stuff at mkt like paw paw popscicles (no they are not good).

never heard of it called that chad must be a different plant yeah dan there should be some in your area maybe not as much as up here or maybe it grows pretty good there too but it's getting harder to find as the population of patches dwindles because people dig it completely out. I usually don't dig seal for about 6 more weeks I'll scout out patches while I'm digging other stuff. I like to make sure I harvest some seed and leave some seed and small plants for the patches to rejuvinate themselves. but I can post some pictures of a seal dig I'll be doing in a set of woods that I just got told if I want it I better get it this week because they are going to log it so I'll post some pictures of this dig. I went through yesterday evening and i was blowed away I got a major project this week. I'll probably dig 8-10 hrs a day for next 6-7 days and still not get it all before the trucks roll in. I'll be transplanting a lot too (dividing roots) into other places (mostly my place) lol

Arrow719; I went to a mound site years ago and found a 10' x 30' patch of those herbs atop it. I quietly turned and left. I am sure I am not the only one here who has done that.
