Running With the Bulls - Matagorda Style

We've been fishing a lot more than arrowheading this past month.

I'm talking Matagorda, Texas .... where the fall redfish run is in full swing!

The first one is the biggest (so far) at 45-1/2" and 32 pounds. We don't always weigh them but usually take a quick measurement on them, these fish are from 35" up in length. All these bull reds were released to fight another day.

Getting my grandson on one of these fish was something we will all remember .... his little sister made sure she got in on it also .... the fish was bigger than her!

A beautiful sunrise was followed by hot coffee and putting some Spanish Mackeral in the ice chest for dinner. Then Zach rounded out the trip with a couple of Bulls.

John,
We catch them on any and all kinds of baitfish, I have to admit we throw some pretty big pieces of bait sometimes. We went back today, we're eating grilled shark steaks tomorrow at about 6 pm. I'll toss a couple extra on the pit for you.

FlyJunkie,
I would love to see you take a crack at one with a fly rod. It would be a rodeo, at least for a little while!

Thanks,
David
