Jocasse Gorge

a place we drove last week..long hard drive without 4-wheel drive..i was told that this man-made lake has covered 11 indian villages..for scale, the trees along the sandy edge are ~60 feet tall.

problem is, no roads going down to the lake and it's only open during deer season..the state bought this area from the power company a few years ago, and it is to remain pristine..i scouted out a huge power line that leads down and crosses the lake..the undergrowth is short enought to walk, but that is probably where the deer hunters are.
this spot is called "Jumping off Rock"..the light color rock just right of center allows you to look almost straight down.
i was told that occasionally, a ceramic pot pops to the surface .

Man, that looks like paradise. And a heck of a place to look for heads. I would be tempted to try to get in there after the deer season. I am not sure of the laws or anything in your area. Probably not worth jailtime. But it would be fun for sure.

It's to bad that the state has a man made lake like that and doesn't allow recreation on it. At minimum you would think that fishing would be allowed.

those look like some good sand bars down by the edges of the water.
