Just being a Fly Junkie....

Figured Folks might enjoy seeing Photos of what makes me the Fly Junkie .. I just love to Flyfish for just about any Fish that will eat my Flies... Yes, i do enjoy Trout on the Fly rod and do it frequently.. But Every fish species swimming out there that will grab my fly and give me a Great Time I am soo ready to Fish for...
Dorado in Baja are a personal favorite, but the Barred Pargo I am holding is a Tough Junkyard fighter as well.....(Most every species I have hooked in the Sea of Cortez and really put your gear thru it's paces..)
I even fish in the Los Angeles River right around Downtown for Carp, because they are tough to fool and fight very well.....
The last Photo, that's a 10wt. fly rod going full tilt on a 20 lb. Dorado in the Sea of Cortez in Baja..

I just love to go Flyfishing, as much as I love to hunt for Arrowheads.. and count my self fortunate that i can often combine the 2 passions...

Great pics Dean. I know it may sound funny but I really like the Carp taken out of the L.A. River. If this rain keeps up that river is gunna be raging.

MAN, I wish I was there. Thanks for the pictures. We caught some Dorado trolling out of Destin FL once, but I would rather cast any day. I love to eat them no matter how they get to the table.

The lake in my avatar is shallow with moss and lily pad coverage. We used to fly fish there with sponge spiders for bream, and large surface lures - deer hair or foam with feather tails for black bass.

Fly tying has always been on my wish list. I read a Field and Stream article once about this guy who tied custom bugs of all description, and you could hardly tell them from the real critters. Seems like fun.

I'd love to see some pictures of your lures.

Nice pics Fly......do you tie your own? I can still remember the first time a big brown took a fly I tied......I was psyched!....lost the fish but I still fooled him!!..lol...
Most of my fiishing has been live bait....worms for trout/bass up to live lining 15 lb. bluefish for shark or tuna.......I still liked the flies better!!!
Tight lines my west coast friend!

Thanks for the kind words Everyone... Yes, i do tye my own Flies... I actually have designed a number of Patterns that have provided very successful for me and a good number of fellow flyfishers.... In fact a handful of my designs are mass produced and sold to fly shops around the world (mostly in the U.S., but some other countries as well).. i earn royalties from these flies as they're sold.. which is pretty sweet..)

For Trask here's some more Species from Baja, for Palmwood here's some of the Patterns I fish in Baja...

That looks like lots of fun!

Makes my bluegill on a sponge spider look kinda puny. The first time we went to the lake with fly rods we had 3 in the boat, with wind......... not good.
My line blew into my Mom's hair. The popping bug was way out in the lake so I thought I could just flip the line off of her head. Then I watched the bug cruising across the water, up in the boat, and right into my Mom's cheek, to the back of the hook bend, OUCH.
We tried everything, but eventually had to leave the lake and go to the hospital to get it removed. My dad was pissed. He got some Novocaine and syringes from our dentist, and got to use it on her a couple of years later; he was never going to lose a fishing trip to a hook again.
We lived in Long Beach when I was a baby. If I was still there I would be begging to go with you.
