Stumbled upon while relic hunting

I was out yesterday and happen to stumble upon this. I thought it was really cool. It's close to Fort Sumner, NM. Found a couple of broken peices close by. Not sure how old it could be...

Looks like something out of a John Wayne movie that the cowboys would hide behind when pursued by the bloodthirsty cannibal savages...LOL. I sould've been a screenwriter.....a broke one probably...LOL

Out here in New Mexico, during the summer hunts, I usually run across one or two a day... I leave them alone as long as they are not aggressive. BUT, there have been a few that came right at me... Needless to say, i have a few rattlers next to my artifacts!

I don't know how old it is either but it sure looks interesting. Maybe an old hunting blind. Love that southwest countryside.

We find hunting blinds here in Washington that the Indians built to hide in. Yours looks to be to new. Stacks are not tight and would most likely fall given time. Also the hole is not something we see as ouy hunters would have to stand to shoot the bow. It is most likely a hunting blind just in my opinion not very old.

I've seen some that had flakes as well as historic brass casings... It could have been a prehistoric blind or shelter that some cowboy or fur trader restacked and used for the same purpose.

I wouldn't know when it might have been used last but the location seems be pretty close to the road to be suitable for hunting. Isn't that a stop sign in the second pic?

It is... It's out in a subdivision that never got developed right along the Pecos River. There is nothing out there but a few dirt roads and wilderness... And this looks to have been there for awhile and there are a lot of rocks from the wall that have fallen...
