I watched that show. Very intriguing evidence and theories. The two little figurines they found were really cool. Sucks they couldn't do any digging because of high ground water levels.

That show was like Geraldo opening the safe.

Interesting stuff.
But, isn't the only known reference to "Atlantis" just a little written piece by Plato? And nobody is positive that it isn't fiction? It seems to me that if this place really existed, it would have been noted by more than just one person. |

The problem with digging about anywhere in that part of Europe and North Africa is that you are going to find ancient artifacts... Certainly big parts of Atlantis are mythology, the root that it colapsed in a single night is probably conceptually shares an origin with Sodom and Gomorrah being destroyed by God.
Personally, I like the island of Santorini in Greece. It was destroyed by a volcanic eruption and what is left fits the outside ring description and general location described by Plato. There are several ancient cities off the coast of Egypt (which has dropped more than 20 feet in the last 2000 years), if it had already dropped another 20 feet in the previous thousands of years you are looking at a search area of hundreds of thousands of square miles that is covered in sediment from the nile river and a couple of ancient rivers that drained into the sea in Tunisia and Libya. |

I'm a firm believer in Atlantis, and I've recently seen some convincing evidence of it being near Ireland in this thread on another site:
Atlantis located off the west cost of Ireland!, page 1 Now, I admit that there's alot of nutjobs on ATS. But that thread is pretty informative. |
