Any Other Government Employees Worried??

Seriously these gov't people need to pull there head out of their a$$. I am really concerned because I totally depend on the gov't to receive my paycheck. If this all goes down badly then I will forclose on my house. So with that said,,, I will probably move somewhere there is plenty of dig sites and great creeks to hunt. More than likely me, my wife, and my 16 month old son will be living in a creek bed in either Texas, Ohio, or my wonderful homeland in the state of Idaho. This sucks. But either way if they don't pay the military, there will be a coup and all will be eliminated!!! Who knows what if going on at this point!

Sounds like you don't have to worry, they worked "something" out. I'm in the same boat as you.

Our government is 14 trillion dollars in debt.
We have an annual deficit of 1.4 trillion.
Forty cents of every dollar our government currently spends is borrowed.
The government is simply going to have to shrink.
I'd look for work in the private sector if I was a government employee right now.

Yes absolutely, luckily I am right now getting ready to go to Physician Assistants school but also through the Army. I really don't think shrinking the army or any other of the armed forces is a good idea. Without the bark there is no bite. We have to have a military force present to keep our wonderful overlords (China and North Korea) off of our soils.
But I do totally agree that the dollar will be pretty much firestarter with the next year. We are way past making cuts. We can't even afford the interest on our loans, so the dollar is done for sure. Buy guns and ammo now before the looters come.

We're not 14 trillion dollars in debt because prison guards like me make too much money. In fact, the number and pay of federal employees in general is not why we are 14 trillion dollars in debt. We are in debt because we spend too much on social programs and subsidies for everything PLUS multiple occupations of foreign countries for their oil. The average government worker is a much easier target than the truth however.

Our government needs to quite giving money that we don't have to other countries for earthquakes, floods, hunger, aids or any other reason and before long the USA might crawl out of the hole its in. Oh yeah and they need to stop supporting all of the illegals.

All those things are convenient targets, but unless we reform Social Security and Medicare, we're spitting in the wind. Those two programs account for about 70% of government spending, and Medicare in particular, if current rules stay in place, will account for virtually all non-discretionary spending in another 20 years.

Our Federal Government won't be shutting down, at least not for any meaningful length of time. The politicians are being politicians. I for one wish that it would shut down completely so we could start from scratch. I know it won't happen, but I am very pessimistic about where we are headed as a country and I do not think the opportunity exists to make corrections. There is too much ignorance in the population, and too many people, citizens and not, that depend on gov't cash no matter if comes from begging, borrowing, stealing, printing...I do think we are paddling upstream against a current that is carrying us toward a waterfall at a faster and faster rate.

Indy, I think the 40% is not the borrowed money figure, but the interest payment figure. We are borrowing much more than that, and China will want some return on investment one day. No one can comprehend billions and trillions, those are just words.
We will comprehend it only when it collapses.

As the budget politicians in Louisiana say, 'Don't cut you, don't cut me, we'll cut the man behind the tree.' As a result, our state has some severe financial troubles but not like the Feds.
