Solutrean Videos and a question?
I have been trying to find some more detailed info on the Solutrean hypothesis on the web while I wait for the book to print. To date most of what I have heard was from a TV program I saw a few years back and the discussions here on Arrowheadology.
I found a couple of videos, one presents the Bradley/Stanford position and the other is a critique of the idea. For some people this appears to be an extremely racially charged issue with a lot at stake for different groups with respect to the future of the narrative. I am somewhat skeptical that lithic analysis can detect direct relationships between different groups of people over time and space, but I remain open to the possibility this may have happened. I'm hoping some of you can shed some light on the second group of videos, which are critical of the hypothesis. If anyone has criticism of any of the points or assertions made by this presentation I would like to hear it. Warning, the first series doesn't have the last installment, at least I couldn't find it. The second one has a terrible computerized narrator and a quick look at some of their other videos, seems to indicate they may have a dog in this fight. Also, I could not get the code to embed on them all for some reason, so I used links instead. Bradley/Stanford videos. YouTube - ‪Clovis Points (Solutreans France) 3 of 5‬‏ YouTube - ‪Clovis Points (Solutreans France) 4 of 5‬‏ The critical view of the hypothesis. YouTube - ‪The Solutrean Hypothesis, what the evidence really says Part 4 of 5‬‏ YouTube - ‪The Solutrean Hypothesis, what the evidence really says Part 5 of 5‬‏ And, last an American Indian comedy show I ran across while searching. I thought it was pretty funny. |

I didn't mean to open pandoras box here and wasn't really looking to have a philosophical or political discussion. I probably should have left the racially charged statement out of my original post, but it does unfortunately appear as a facet of this debate.
I asked the question, because I don't know if the facts provided by the critical video are accurate and was looking for some peer review. Anyone can go online and publish information, which turns out to be a double edged sword.

Suffice it to say that, whenever a seemingly simple question like the hypothetical Solutrian origin of Clovis hits the kind of a nerve in people that produces fireworks, there's more at stake in the outcome of it than just which conjecture makes better sense.
