Those Easter Island Statues...

Apparently have bodies buried underground. They are believed to have sunk into the ground during rising water and floods. They're even more massive than once believed to be.

Cool links Ryan. I had seen a show a while back on Discovery that talked about these statues being a lot bigger then what was exposed above ground. I think one guy referred to them being like Ice Bergs in that there was probably a lot more under the surface than what was seen above ground. Those pics prove it. It's cool to see that they are actually full bodies that even have arms and hands carved into them.

That is one of my dream destinations. I've been relatively close, but no business reason to go their and I've just never made the time or money available personally.

One of the the theories for standing them up was to dig pit and move them in, and then display them like that (open pit.)
