I'd like to see the rest of what was found. Maybe the priceless thing is in THERE. I see about $80 worth in that picture.
What a hassle.
We have a similar problem going on in my town where $750,000 was spent to buy some land to make soccer fields, baseball fields, build a basketball/rec center and put in a pool over a period of time. 5 years later. Nothing. One of the big hold ups was that archaeologists had to come in and dig, evaluate and report. There is a Ft. Ancient site on the hill top(that they aren't even going to use as part of the park) and it has an old home on it that some people are determined to keep as a historic site because it was once used to gather slaves in the basement after they were bought before marching them off to the sellers home. It's a wreck and cannot be fixed up for any kind of money that could be recouped.
Now we've spent another $750,000 with upkeep and the hassles over the last 5 years and have nothing to show for it. One little set of playground equipment that just went in and a gravel area for a farmer's market.
Like one of the commentors said, you don't own the land.
