Thats a great article and a real indicator of how a lot of these questions will ultimately be answered. I've participated for the last 7 years in a Y-DNA project and my particular haplogroup dates back 8000 years to the The northern European steppe-tundra. Fascinating science.

I forget what I paid as I was pretty early in but it has gotten cheaper. I was originally interested in participating in a family genealogical study but got more interested in the deep ancestry aspects of it. It is interesting to see how most of my matches are from Norway and Iceland, etc., and that we shared a single common ancestor 8K years ago.
They've got this now down to clades and sub-clades dating back thousands of years. I highly recommend familytreedna.com for anybody interested (no affiliation -- long time customer).

This is a side bar issue,but along the same line.I have recently found out that they are using DNA to show blood rights(ie. Federal benifits) for Native American Peoples.
I don't think they have all the diferent Tribes narrowed down yet.But I find it very interesting to say the least./comanche
