Clovis Cartoons and other stuff...

More silliness on Clovis evolutions….
This is a downloadable powerpoint slide show illustrating point similarities.
If anyone has trouble with the animations, let me know. I’m sure there are some software versions out there that will struggle.

Congradulations on a well thought out and presented comparison. This is the first time I have heard of the thick-style Clovis. You make a strong argument that these could indeed have been ealier re-worked Haskett-type artifacts. Thanks for putting this together. It gives me a lot more to think about now plus I'll be digging through all my older broken points taking a closer look.

I'm right there with You Mano... Mojave has me re inspecting my sizable collection of broken points from the Desert areas.. seeing if they are something other then what I thought they were.. actually have one that seems to be a Lake Mohave section....

Thanks Mojave, You always test my knowledge level with new and interesting views and information...

Mojave,

Well done. That is a nice body of work there. I've never handled a number of the artifacts included in the study there but the concept alone has me thinking.

I'm off to review it again to see if I can digest a bit more. I'll have questions for sure.

Thanks for sharing and I encourage all to take the time to download and then view in presentation mode to see the effects.

Well done indeed.

Shannon

What really struck me was the fact that I completely, a lot of times, forget that every artifact I find is not a pristine example with no prior history....knapped, hafted and picked up by me! It seems to me that a lot of the Paleo artifacts, (and it has been talked about extensively how fruggle they were with their lithics) other than the obvious first stage never resharpened ones, have probably a longer history of actually being in use before they were lost, tossed or cooked in the fire pit. I am really enjoying your presentation and am hoping that it can be premanately added somehow, maybe on the home page, as an essay?
