New TV Series?

I was reading the December issue of "Wild West" magazine, and I saw an ad on the bottom left of page 78.

The ad states that they are "seeking items or artifacts with interesting or historical stories in all areas for television series in production."

Anyone hear anything more about this?

I haven't heard anything about it, but it sounds interesting.I've been thinking about shooting some footage of my trips to run by some folks.I think an arrowhead hunting show would do really well.

I'd avoid such a program personally.. don't want a bunch of johnny come latelys visiting my Sites.... Because basically i am jealous of others going out and finding points that I would find myself if others didn't know about hunting points..
I am always reluctant to show too many folks how to hunt Points... usually one in 20 will actually be asked to hunt with me, as i teach them techniques.. and then only after they swear to not tell everyone else how to find points... when asked How easy it is to find Points and other artifacts.. I reply "well it is never easy...but if you know what to look for, where to look and how to look, it certainly is not very hard...

Personally i would not want to see such a Program on TV.. because i am selfish about too many people "poaching my Honey Hole" (a term we use in Flyfishing quick often)...

That's where I am with a TV show about the hobby.

I'm sure I would enjoy watching a show about collecting artifacts. But if a show existed.... that would probably be the end of collecting as we know it. The internet is already made hunting and collecting more difficult. You think it is hard to find a place to hunt now....... if a program like that became popular...... many of the limited opportunities to hunt artifacts today could potentially dry up. The general rule in artifact hunting has always been.... keep everything as low profile as possible. If you love this hobby and want to preserve the few hunting opportunities that exists today..... NO TV SHOWS.

with all that said i have to agree. however if it was adiffrent place i could see it being very intertaining. i think alot about why there isnt things related to native americans on tv like some othere things. id love to at the very least see a tv series about native americans. im a big lover of the movie lonesome dove,i wish there was a good series with native americans. i also have to agree with the fact that it could hurt what many of us love to do if a reality show existed about us arrowhead hunters, and could totally disrupt our favorite past time,or as i call it ,my full time job.

Imagine a landowner, who thinks looking for arrowheads is a little 'weird' or boring maybe. Then suddenly a TV show pops up, showing how fun it is and then everyone starts talking about it, and then the landowner thinks "Wow, I've got a real goldmine here," and decides to keep it all just to himself or just family. I think you'd probably see quite a bit of that, or maybe more restrictions placed on the collection of artifacts.

I agree, keep it on the down-low.
But "Meteorite Men" did quite a bit for that hobby (and the ratings), so I imagine something like that about our hobby will eventually make it on the air.
