I attended a lecture at the local college last night, given by a Dr. Holliday from tulane. A lot of it was about Neanderthal and how he thought we are related to them in a reticulate pattern, However he did touch on the Denisovans, and said some of the investigators speculated they may be late surviving Asian Homo Erectus. When i mentioned that the associated tools were made with Levallois technique, and that no erectus had ever been associated with Levallois technique, he could not come up with an explanation. he did say Melanesions were the only known group genetically related.I asked him if, since these remains were found in the Altai region of Siberia, the location of the proposed source of Native Americans, if Native Americans had been tested for remnants of their mitochondrial DNA, and he replied not that he knows of.All in all, an interesting lecture.
