Chesapeake Clovis

Not exactly News but of considerable interest :
UD grad student’s discovery could help rewrite prehistory

As I recall from having read a previous account that's since been "disappeared," the point find that kicked this off was made of Ramah chert (from Labrador). It's not pictured or mentioned here though.

Good stuff no matter what.

Interesting read Uni, if I recall correctly, I remember reading something somewhere about a clovis point found in Vermont made from a Labrador material. I believe they had claimed it older than most recognized clovis time period stuff. I'm not sure I'll be able to find it again but I'll give it a shot.......kinda makes ya go...Hmmmmm

Uni, thanks alot for posting this interesing article, I've never seen this before. Northeast into the south. I wonder how much early man evidence is long inundated by the atlantic ocean. First I'd heard of a 17,000 year old clovis site near Richmond , Va. too unless he's talking about the Cactus Hill site. Great stuff, thanks again.

If those dates are correct then pre-Clovis turns out to be, well, Clovis.

Well Bill, I wish my memory was half as good as yours!...lol
So, now the explanation as to just how Ramah chert got here? Opens up all kinds of debate that I'm sure has been fleshed out before.....

I've never heard of Clovis being found on the East coast made of Labradour material. That would be some very very interesting information to surface in the whole pre-clovis debate.
