This stuff is, despite the flack shield being put up "debunking" it by selective omission of relevant evidence and misinterprettion of what it cites, coming to be more and more widely recognised as critically important in reconstructing the past. I.e., when everything around you changes, you either change what/how you do in response (adapt), or perish.

The archaeological record likely includes a good bit of both.

More seriously, I read about the probabilities of this occurrence several years ago and was and remain amazed at how little attention it gets. I know that certain very large objects are being tracked but we've had a couple of pretty close encounters with smaller objects over the last few years that could have been devastating. I'm not interested in becoming a hunter/gatherer at this point in my life.

Some people believe in the black layer theory!! Were multiple Clovis sites have a thick black layer, they say it could have resulted in a meteor or comet that hit the earth and left this black layer above the paleo layer!!? Resulting in a catastrophe that killed many people and animals!!!
