Juan Camacho Armenta found a portion of a fossilized pelvis bone with the figure of a Gomphothere engraved in it back in 1959, he called it Tetela 1, and it appeared in Nat.Geo. and other American publications, and was displayed in the Smithsonian.Because of the fact that American archeologists for the most part thought the species had died out long before humans occupied the America's and the unexpected early dates associated with it and other finds in central Mexico, it was dismissed as a fake by most, and has since been lost. You should check out THE PLEISTOCENE COALITION web site, the geologists associated with the finds are trying to get their finds and the extreme age of the sites out to the public with NO help from the archeological community, except for Chris Hardaker. The Tetela 1 engraving w.s examined by Marie Wormington and others who were convinced of it's authenticity.
