Got out...

Went to one of my point hunting sites, but it was still covered with snow. Soo, I went metal detecting on lower ground. Found these fired 58 Cal Minis left by the soldiers that were here in the 1850s. A great day, the dog loved it, too!

Pretty neat. Would those be from the Indian Wars? I'm aware of miniballs as they relate to the Civil War but not so much about out west.

Federal troops were sent here in 1858 to control the Mormons. I have been fortunate to be able to metal detect some of their sites over the years. It's neat to find an arrowhead or artifact from the past, but also great to find something from that many years ago that you can tie history to.

Good thing you had a back up plan! Nice pieces of history there. I got slammed at work, no telling when I'll get out again.

Interesting. I'll have to read up on that. I never knew the Mormons needed controlling.

Nice to see you out and about, Dave. No point huntin' for me in a while, but plenty bottle diggin', pneumonia and all. 'Ol Desert Rat has an affinity for tumblers doesn't he?
