Seashells

Here's what My Wife, Daughter and I do when we go to the Gulf on vacation. We love searching for seashells. My Daughter Hannah found a sharks tooth last year. We are truly addicted to treasure hunting no matter what it is. Can't wait until we figure out searching for arrowheads and have that collection grow.

Very cool shells man. Where on the gulf coast do you go ? The grandparents have a place in Largo. Just south of Tampa. Beautiful area man.

We go to Navarre, which is just next to Destin. Would love to go further south, but the drive is too far and it's too expensive to fly. Of course, with the price of gas, flying might be cheaper.

Nice shells!
Shells were important back in the day, too!

Largo is one town up from St. Pete!

We would love to try other parts of the coast. These are pretty common shells, but they are nice and fun to find. They don't have the history of arrowheads, and aren't as exciting to hunt for, but they make vacation fun. After my first couple of weeks on this forum, I think it is awesome. It is amazing what the people who run this have put together, and do a wonderful job maintaining it! The members also make it very fun to keep visiting.

Nice looking shells. You can tell by the Scotch Bonnets that you were hunting the Nothern part of the state, they are not common at all further South. If you can afford it someday, take a trip to Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Unreal collecting there. The Florida Keys used to be good, but not so much anymore.

If you want to collect hundreds and hundreds of shark's teeth in a single day, see if you can make it down to Venice Florida. Go to the beaches in the South part, especially Casperson Beach. The sand is black in places from the fossil deposits, and if you sift in the surf they are everywhere.

Also, see this forum:

Thanks for the advice guys. We are in the northern panhandle. The Scotch Bonnets are my favorite. They are never on top, but if you reach down in the sand about six inches you can pull them out. Love the shark tooth advice. My wife is dying to find a place where they are common. We have only found one so far. We'll have to check out the Bahamas and Sanibel Island.
