Old bottle ID help
I found this nice little old bottle yesterday. From what I know about old bottles it dates somewhere between 1880 to 1910. I was hoping to be able to look up the mark on the bottom to maybe be able to pin the bottling company and age down. The mark is P.C.C.W. with a 3 above it. I found a mark that is close here: GLASS MANUFACTURERS' MARKS ON BOTTLES -- PAGE THREE but it's P.C.G.W. which stands for Pacific Coast Glass Works which was around from 1902 to 1925. There is a slightly countersunk circle in the center of the bottle which I'm guessing was for a label. I think it's a whiskey bottle but would love to know which brand if possible. I realize it's probably not the holy grail of bottles I just like knowing all I can about them.
High Sierra are you out there? I doubt anyone on this site knows more about old western whiskey bottles than you do. Anyone else with info would be appreciated. |

Looks like a generic whiskey bottle, from around the turn of the century.

arrow--Chris Capley from one of the old forums was and is an expert on bottles . He collects in Tenn. KY. and back east . He is on facebook but I don't know if he is here or not . I don't think so---If you want I will contact him and see if he will come over to this forum and look at the bottle . He can research it for you .

Another old bottle
I found this up in the mountains when we stopped for a restroom break and picked it up thinking of Highsierra and his collection of vintage bottles. The information I got online suggested it was made in 1947 in Susanville. I think that is cool!

Nice! They started making those applied labels in the 30's. The early labels are actually glass that are fired on. Later, they used enamel labels.

Your bottle probably is made by Pacific Coast Glass Works, It's not uncommon for some letters to not come out crisp and clean. If you notice how thin the bottom part of the second "C" is, it's probably a "light" G.
