Added a new piece of pottery to the collection

Just added a new piece of pottery to the collection, from Costa Rica, 400-700 AD "Chocolate cup" with spider motif. It was busted up pretty bad so I got a deal. I haven't decided if I am going to do a full restore on it or just display it as is yet. Two of the three rattle feet still have the clay rattle ball inside.

I don't know why they put the rattles on/in them, they are just clay balls and I don't imagine they made too much noise.

Great piece, Costa Rica pottery is hard to come by.

Rattles are a neat commonality between many Pre-Colombian cultures. They have also caused more destruction of great pieces because so many farmers/diggers believe the myth that the natives hid gold nuggets in the rattles.

Here is a Venus figurine that was unceremonially killed because it rattled.
