Fossils

I guess since no one else has taken the opportunity to post anything here I'll be the first to do so. I have collected fossils for most of my life and probably longer then I have artifacts, though not as passionately. When I was growing up in the town of Springboro, Ohio near Dayton there was a small creek that ran close to our house and all the neighborhood kids would play there constantly. This creek was loaded with fossils like Crinoids, Brachipods, Horned Coral, Cephalopods, and a few Bryozoans. Some of these are from that creek and some I've found since we moved here in 1971.

Here's a few pictures.

The first 2 pictures are Brachiopods I have picked up over the years.

The 3rd picture is all Crinoid Stems.

The 4th picture has a couple of Amonites that I bought and a few other pieces I found.

The next two show some various fossils and 2 of the best Cephalopods I have ever found. There are also a couple small pieces of Trilobites in the left hand bottom corner. The 2 pieces right above the really small Brachiopod has part of a face and part of a body it them.

The 7th picture was identified as part of a large sea plant and the last one is a trace fossil of a worm track.

If anyone else has any cool fossils lets' see them.

Knowing your luck(hard work) they were probably once collected by Native Americans and then lost for you to find them.

Nice collection and a good start to everyone showing some things. I hope to get a post up tomorrow, myself.

Steve it doesn't surprise me in the least to see such a stunning collection from you. I could really get into fossils if I had more time.
Thanks for posting this. Might get the rest of us off our butts

Have LOTS of fossils and minerals, don't have pics!
All the above came from Bone Valley, mostly Peace River area and some phosphate mines.

Here are some I can put my hands on right now. There is a sample of petrified wood which I have all over the place. Ray
