Today's "bottleless' sojourn

Well, here it is late Friday afternoon and I arrived back here a short time ago, after driving some 170 miles in search of mining camp glass. It was a much anticipated trip, but didn't exactly go as planned. It seems that even in the middle of June the High Sierra can be an unforgiving range, and we found out all about it today. Snow, and lots of it, blocked our path at 6500'. I saw the cards on the table from several miles away, but continued onward anyway just to see what was there.

The road became basically a one lane path between high walls of fresh snow. Sheesh! Who'da thunk that there would be this much powder in June!

OOPS! End of the road and we still would have had several miles to go down this invisible road to our unreached goal. Our plan was to return to an early site where sparkly 1860-80s glass lays barely under the earth and pine needles. Over 20 various San Francisco Meds, Jamaica Gingers, black and amber Hostetter's, sodas, and other bottles were unearthed on the first and only foray to this remote site in November. We are keeping a tight lid on this choice spot, but now it will have to wait until late July for round 2.

To be continued.....

That's unreal. That much snow in June.

Who'da thunk it?
