Two recent acquisitions

Older firearms are another passion of mine, especially Winchester Model 1886 rifles. This very rare, special ordered 1886 Extra Lightweight .45-90 WCF Takedown suddenly became available so I snapped it up. The were a very small number of these guns manufactured in this caliber, and even fewer having a full length magazine. The sights on this gun were ordered with it and are identified on the letter from the Cody Firearms Museum. It is a used, but most certainly not abused, rifle and it will be used as intended this fall and, with good fortune, for many more to come. The bore is like new, so I expect this one to be very accurate

I also picked up another set of M-1 Garands from the Department of Civilian Marksmanship program. These are "Service Grade" rifles, which means that they are in good enough to condition to be reissued to military personnel that could request them. Actually, they are in excellent shape, with very few nicks and dings in the wood and perfect metal, including the chamber and bore. I have completely stripped this one down, reassembled it an it ready to rock and roll.

Very nice. Both classics.

Good thread and I'll have to post a few items when I get a chance.
