Bottle Bridge - my descent into bottle maddness

I will keep this thread alive as I continue to clean and learn more. Hunting on the Sulphur river, we have from time to time come across old bottles. Kept a few because it was neat but never thought we would actually take on yet another collection hobby.

Well on Saturday, after spending the week on google earth plotting out an N.E. Texas creek trip (11 spots in all!) we started to work our way through the different bridges and creeks hunting for flint.

First 4 spots turned up some fossils but no flint.

Spot 5 though turned into something different. Immediately we found 5 bottles of various ages. Then walked up the creekbed and found more bottles. And then more. We were able to get a ok phone connection in the creek bed so we googled a few to see if they were modern or midely old. The first one came back 1920 and the second bottle we searched came back 1905.

All told we came back with a bit more than 50 non-broken bottles from this location. Since we had to scale a 25 foot tall embankment to get out of the creek we had to do like 6 trips to get them all up. We left a bunch because we wanted to do a test and see if any of these bad boys are worth anything or if they are just common from a old country trash burn site.

I have two rubbermaids full of them soaking. Tonight we will start cleaning and update on our finds.

I hope to god I dont become a hoarder with all these collections - fossils, points, mid century modern furniture, bottles now.
