Musical Instruments
This is my latest accquisition 1920's-30's Slingerland Tenor Banjo. I play guitar and mandolin, but decided to branch out. When I'm not pick'in up artifacts I'll be pick'in and grin'in
on the banjo.

Cool banjo!! We have a Martin '43 D-18, '49 0-15 and a 1918 A-0 mando in the house. Also got an old no name mando and a no name 5 string banjo hanging on the wall. They were played by my step-dad and his brother in the late 1920's in a string band.

I should qualify my playing as only slightly above novice. The dogs have quieted down a little bit so I may be learning something. I have fun playing or "trying to" play them all though. I also have an entry level Dean acoustic guitar, an Ibanez hollowbody electric, and an eastman 805D mandolin. The mandolin gets most of my attention, but this little Tenor Banjo is competing now probably because I have it tuned as a mandolin Irish Style. Thanks all for the responses and sharing what you play.

Very cool! I'd say, counting guitars, basses, a mandolin, dulcimer, and baritone ukelele, I have around 15 stringed instruments. Add to that several keyboards, a couple of harmonicas, bongos, congas and other various percussion instruments, and I guess you could call it a collection!

Very cool Headhunter. A mountain laptop dulcimer is on my list of things to pick up. I don't know if I am coordinated enough to play one
but it will be fun try someday. Is yours a laptop or a hammered dulcimer?

Mine is a mountain dulcimer. It's actually quite easy to play. Easier than hammered dulcimer. Easier than guitar, mandolin, or banjo to be honest. I'd say go for it!
I was lucky enough to get mine at a little shop in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, where the owner's son actually made them by hand. It's beautiful black walnut with hummingbird cutouts for sound holes. I've had it for years but never actually used it on a recording until this year, when I finally played it for my band's latest cd, which should be out in a couple of months. Here's a pic of me in the studio recording with it:

Thanks for the pic that is beautiful instrument. You will have to keep me posted on that CD. As I said earlier my playing ability is only slightly above novice but I have been playing around with audacity software I recorded and saved some stuff over time. It is kind of neat to go back and listen to the progression. It helps me to see that I am making some progress. What genre does your band fall in?
