If you can't beat'em, join'em.

I hunted for about 5 hours this weekend despite knowing one area is yet to be plowed and the other I've already picked over. So, after finding 5 tips and 2 flake tools I decided to just work on my Primative Technology studies.

Look quick because I'm going to take the hammer to them soon enough.

Up this way, the first half of April was Prime Time. The fields had been harvested long before, winter had beaten down and away out most of the corn leaves, and the ground surface had been washed hyper clean, exposing stones everywhere. Early in the ploughing cycle was good, but if you were ever going to find anything, that's when you were most likely to find it. Found three nice ones in one three-day period that way (a unique experience).

Thanks all.

The one Lewis likes and the similar material one are TX Root Beer. Probably why Lewis likes it.

Some of the material I got with the "kit". Some from FleaBay. Some from a knapper named Curtis Smith.

The pinkish stuff is a colored novaculite from neolithics.com and it's a little sketchy. It flakes really easily but it crushes and breaks easily too.

My wife and kids are out of town from yesterday until Wed. so I'm trying not to get my tax stuff finished up by being on Aology, watching ballgames, hunting and knapping.

X2 on that pink novaculite.........worked some of that stuff about 10-12 years ago and not since! Really fragile and odd breaking rock.

Getting better quickly!
