Flint Blade Core - France

I bought this "Livres de Beurre" from a collector in France. This is a neolithic blade core from the Grand Pressigny. The knapper's strategy then was sort of the opposite of what we are used to. All of the work was to prepare a final blow that would produce a long thin usable blade.

I am jealous of the materials they have. Like butterscotch candy.

Really cool piece, and huge. That material is kind of Flint Ridge like imo. I'd like to have one of those big indirect percussion flakes to work on. Thanks for the look.

The good old "Pound of Butter" cores. I've got a couple around here that I bought in France a couple of years back. They are impressive artifacts.

Video of Bernard ginelli working a puound of butter core. I believe he strikes the blades with a large boxwood billet. Beautiful core you have.
