Some old hard stone finds

Several years back I had a job selling building materials (rebar, cement, tiles, etc.) in the Caribbean and I got to spend a lot of time visiting construction sites and identifying archaeological sites on many of islands.

Over 8 years I managed to piece together (digging/surface find) this grouping of jade/greenstone mini-celts made by the Barrancoid Culture. The much later Taino sites on top of these sites were dug years ago, but locals never went below that layer into the earlier deposits. Below these deposits there is the occasional Archaic tool, but not a lot of material.

Most of the these sites are now hotels, parking lots or Casinos. This is probably one of my favorite frames.
