caveman condo

Hunting isn't so great right when the leaves fall-
not to mention its waterfowl and bow hunting deer season.

Not the best conditions for walking quietly through the
countryside even if you could see through the leaves!

Went on a sightseeing tour of a huge and awesome
site.

Didn't find squat-but you all might like to see this site.
Travelled 8 miles by water to get a look at this famous
local spot-it was a freakin cave man condo back in
the day. This bluff line has like 1000 feet of rock
shelter, 2 small caves and is 40 feet from the dripline
to the back wall for 300 feet of its length!

This place is as DUG OUT as it gets-there were
HUNDREDS of names scratched into the soft sandstone
layer at the back wall of the shelter. These names go
on for hundreds of feet.

and apparently this place has been dug regularly
for artifacts for 100 years! After looking around
I was completely blown away by this spot-
must have been an awesome house for indians!
This place was so awesome just to climb around on.
Here is the view facing upstream in the main cave

you couldn't miss anyone coming downstream.

I saw photos of this place dug out to bedrock by
some guys back in the old days-like 15 feet below
where the dirt is today.
This place produced THOUSANDS of intact artifacts
over the years.
Didn't find much in the river with the leaves messing
up the hunting. But since it was probably the last 80
degree day for the year-was nice to get out and
see this famously dug out caveman condo!
