Not many lithics down in the Amazon. These were recovered in the Cataniapo River in the dry season.

Great pieces. I find those grooves in bed rock at several river sites in the northern part of the country as well.

Those are great and finding them in all that jungle is even greater. Well maybe not jungle still not easy hunting. Do you have a time frame Midland?

I can only narrow it down to sometime beginning Corozal(3000 BP)/Arauquinoid(1500BP) to protohistoric/historic (500 BP or later). The differant styles may reflect differant cultural sequences but I've not found a lot of info to go on. The modern Indians find and sometimes use them but have apparently not made them for some time. The Yanomami consider them gifts from their Hekura or cloud sky clan(s).
