Modernday Amazon Indian Artifacts

Most of the Amazons Indiginous cultures are in an uneasy state of acculteration and the material culture of many of these ethnic groups is dissapearing quickly.v

OMGosh Midland, that basket is awesome. All of it is except I love the birds[ALIVE} I know I know yes I eat chicken

Midland, you have an awesome collection. How did you choose the Panare? i.e. instead of another group of people. How did you choose the location out of all of South America? No hurry, just curious

Organization for Tropical Research and Exploration had been working in the area for close to twenty years. The Panare are a traditional living ethnic group of the Caribe culture. They call themselves the Enya-pa. They are quite camera shy so I have only a few pictures of the people. Do not confuse primative with traditional as they are compleetly differant. I spent quite a bit of time staying in the communities of Turiba, Colorado, and Quebrada Seco and saw just how much damage Protestant(New tribes) missionaries can inflict on Indiginous peoples.
